Romantic Garden Engagement Photos That Prove Arizona Isn’t Just Desert

Garden engagement photos in Arizona might feel a little bit like a made-up fantasy, but as an Arizona engagement photographer, I’m here to tell you: they exist. And they’re beautiful.

If romantic engagement photos are your vibe, in a session where you’re surrounded by blooming flowers and maybe even have a picnic set up… You won’t want to miss Kelsey and Joshua’s session at The Evergreen Garden.

Who Should Take Garden Engagement Photos?

Considering garden engagement photos? If so, they’re probably for you.

There are a few types of couples that engagement photos like this always work really well for:

  • The ones who have a super sweet, super romantic energy, whose color palette as a couple would probably be pastels and neutrals
  • Those who thrive in the springtime and love all things flowers + nature
  • The ones who want something a little different than classic Arizona desert engagement photos (though, we love those over here, too)

Sound like you? Let’s keep going.

Where to Take Romantic Garden Engagement Photos in Arizona

Trust me: there are a ton of hidden gems in Arizona for garden engagement photos. Although they can be tricky to find, they’re here. My credentials? I’m an Arizona engagement photographer who’s been doing this for a while. You can find more of these romantic engagement photos from this orchard session and this meadow session

The #1 spot I’ve found, though, is The Evergreen Garden. I found this spot recently and immediately knew it was the one for Kelsey and Joshua’s session. The cute little house, the pool, the lush gardens that look like a green wonderland? Yeah. It all had me hooked right off the bat.

The Evergreen Garden is an outdoor rental space that somehow has the vibes of European-summer-meets-tropical-jungle-meets-vintage-cottagecore-garden, if you can picture it.

How to Plan an Engagement Session at The Evergreen Garden

Another thing I love about garden engagement photos at The Evergreen Garden is that they make it so easy to plan. Your photographer (hi) has to schedule your session for you directly, so all you have to do is let me know when you want to go and chat with me about your vision, then we bring it to life.

As an Arizona engagement photographer who knows a thing or two about getting romantic engagement photos, I always recommend scheduling as early in the morning as possible. Sunrise sessions (like Kelsey and Joshua’s) give us dreamy light that couldn’t be better if it tried

Here are a few things to note about the property for planning your engagement session:

  • They unfortunately do not allow pets, so no four-legged friends this time! I’m always down to get a separate session with your pup afterwards, though.
  • They typically book sessions between May and October, based on availability. I recommend planning as far in advance as possible, as it’s a space that gets booked up quickly. Flowers start to bloom in March, so May-June is pretty much peak time for garden engagement photos here.
  • Garden sessions last for one hour and cost $95, and pool sessions last for two hours and cost $300. No matter which is more your style, it’s gonna be gorgeous.

Unique Ideas for a Garden Engagement Photoshoot

News flash: your engagement photos don’t have to look like me saying, “Okay, stand there in front of the flowers, hold hands, and look at the camera.” Because, let’s be real, that’s not my vibe. And if you’re here, I’m assuming it’s probably not yours, either.

I have a few ideas for your engagement photoshoot that just feel a little different and a lot like you

Have a Theme

Themes always get a yes from me. Here are a few ideas that just work for garden engagement photos:

  • European garden picnic: bring a blanket, a charcuterie board, a bottle of champagne, and your best cottagecore-esque linen dress
  • Boho garden: think earth tones, golden hour pictures, and a Free People outfit that screams effortless hippie vibes
  • Vintage garden: whether you take vintage to mean bold 70s energy or 40s secret garden energy, it’ll work at The Evergreen Garden

Wear a Flowy Outfit

Something about a flowy, feminine outfit just works for garden engagement photos. I have a few saved that I would love to see in a session like this!

Incorporate Movement

As I said… I’m not an Arizona engagement photographer who’s gonna tell you to just look at the camera and smile.

I use a lot of movement and a lot of prompts to get you those romantic engagement photos that look right out of Pinterest. If you’re anything like me, you love a cinematic, nostalgic, blurry feel to your photos, and in The Evergreen Garden?? Yeah. It works.

Kelsey and Joshua’s Garden Engagement Photos

Kelsey and Joshua met me up at The Evergreen Garden at sunrise, and it was a slow morning, giggling on a picnic blanket turned into running through the gardens like they were main characters in a rom-com.

The lighting? Immaculate. The vibes? So gorgeous, so them. The romance? Don’t even get me started.

This session lives rent-free in my head and will forever, so if you need garden engagement photo inspiration… You’re welcome.
