A Classic Wedding in Sedona Arizona | Agave of Sedona

I really love when old friends decide to have me photograph their special day! I went to college with Hope and Zach, so seeing their relationship flourish to this beautiful wedding in Sedona Arizona was so special. This day has truly captured my heart, and as you continue reading, I am sure you’ll be equally touched by the moments that unfolded!

The backstory of the Wedding in Sedona Arizona

Hope and Zach’s love story began on the lacrosse field during their time at NAU. They spent three years as friends before taking that leap into romance.  H & Z were actually my first-ever models for a destination shoot I planned at Horseshoe Bend! They had only been together for 3 months and were wearing wedding attire for a styled elopement. Everyone kept congratulating them and it was honestly hilarious! Little did they know that their love would actually blossom into a beautiful wedding day. Seeing their love story evolve from that fun photoshoot to a genuine wedding made my heart so happy.

The Venue

Their wedding took place at Agave of Sedona. A gorgeous private venue in the heart of the city with majestic red rock views. It was a perfect overcast day which we were all SUPER happy about! At this venue, I always make sure to advise my couples about the intense sun at the ceremony site. I recommend moving the ceremony time earlier to avoid the full sun or having it much later when the sun is almost set, so the mountains won’t be washed out in the photographs.

A Classic Wedding in Sedona Arizona Itinerary

There were so many things throughout their day that I absolutely loved!! They rented a huge Airbnb with two houses right next to each other so that they could both get ready with their wedding party in a large space without things feeling too cluttered. The light was so incredible for their getting-ready photos!! 

First Look

Since they couldn’t get onsite to the venue until later they decided to have their first look at Tlaquepaque. Which is a super unique area in Sedona that is also a shopping center. I found a staircase that led us up to the rooftop of some of the stores and it was completely empty and private. So it was perfect for their first look and their wedding party/family photos! Zach was a bundle of nerves and excitement waiting to see Hope, and when he turned around for their first look, he couldn’t hold back the tears. It was such a beautiful moment!

The Ceremony & After

There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd as Hope & Zach exchanged their vows against the gorgeous backdrop of the Sedona red rocks. After the touching ceremony, we took more photos and then the newlyweds got to mingle with all of their guests at cocktail hour. The reception and dance followed, turning into a magical celebration of love as everyone came together to create unforgettable memories dancing the night away.
