Best Time to Visit the West Fork Trail

If you want that soft, golden-hour glow without the crowds, I highly recommend a weekday session. West Fork is incredibly popular, and on weekends, the parking lot often fills up early—once it’s full, they turn cars away.

• Fall (September-November): The absolute best time to visit! The changing leaves bring insane colors that contrast beautifully with the red rocks.
• Spring (March-May): Wildflowers start popping up, and the creek is flowing beautifully.
• Summer (June-August): It’s warm but shaded in most areas, and the creek is perfect for cooling off.
• Winter (December-February): A hidden gem if you want a snowy Sedona vibe—yes, it does snow here sometimes!

What to Expect at the West Fork Trail

The trail itself is about 3.5 miles one way, but don’t worry—we won’t be hiking the whole thing! We’ll pick the best spots within the first mile or so, where you’ll get a variety of landscapes without a long trek. There are several water crossings, so wearing sturdy shoes (or being okay with a little splashing) is a good idea.

Parking & Amenities 

• Parking: $11 per vehicle, cash or card accepted.
• Bathrooms: Yep! There are restrooms at the trailhead.
