Usery’s one of those spots where you can get a ton of different backdrops in one session. Big saguaros, open trails, rolling desert, it’s all there. It’s great if you want variety without driving far from the city.

• Best time to shoot: Sunrise for soft light and cooler temps.
• What to know: $7 parking. Permit needed for pro sessions (we’ll help with that). Light walking.

South Mountain Park

This one’s sneaky good, it’s so close to the city but feels totally separate. Between the trails, desert scenery, and even a chance to snag the skyline in the background, it’s got a ton of flexibility.
