Outdoor Wedding at a Cabin in South Dakota

I am completely obsessed with this outdoor woodsy wedding in South Dakota.

Kathryn & Keith are big lovers of adventure. They enjoy biking, hiking, skiing and anything outdoors! I wasn’t surprised at all when they told me of their vision for an epic wedding day. They planned a ceremony in the middle of the woods at a family cabin! They also showcased their love for adventure (skiing in particular) by having a wooden pair of skiies be their guestbook at the reception!

Wedding Vision

Their wedding vision was completely stunning. The ceremony happened just outside the cabin – the property was huge and allowed for an outdoor ceremony area and a reception. The vibe was like a farmhouse wedding with touches of beautiful greenery, pampas and fresh blush roses. The reception area featured more farmhouse/rustic tables covered in white tablecloths to give it an elegant feel. Eucalyptus leaves decorated the tables. Kathryn & Keith also had a large tent with bistro lights strung for the perfect reception lighting and a dance floor. Dance floors at an outdoor reception are so key because they help keep your heels from getting stuck in the grass!

After the ceremony I had a chance to sneak away with the two lovebirds and it was completely worth it. On the large property in South Dakota we had the opportunity to get gorgeous bride and groom photos in the woods and in an open field with the pines in the background. This really gave a beautiful woodsy wedding vibe, and in South Dakota it was stunning. With there being a pretty decent sized group at their wedding, the large and open property still gave it that intimate feel which I know was important to them.

I absolutely LOVE to travel for weddings. If you are looking for a wedding photographer and you live in a different state than I do, DON’T LET THAT STOP YOU! I will hop on a plane so fast and be there on your special day. You can get in touch with me here. Need some more inspiration? Follow me on Pinterest here!
