Lost Dutchman State Park AZ Sunrise Engagement Photos

Capturing the love stories of friends and family always holds a special place in my heart, especially when it happens in my home state as an Arizona wedding photographer. Annie and Trevor had the most beautiful sunrise engagement photos taken at Lost Dutchman State Park AZ! Trevor is my husband’s cousin and I have worked with Annie photographing some weddings so it was SO fun to be able to take their engagement photos! With the world still quiet, we took advantage of the early morning light, capturing the unique magic that comes with the dawn of a new day.

Lost Dutchman State Park

Lost Dutchman State Park is located in the Sonoran Desert, at the base of the Superstition Mountains, about 40 miles east of Phoenix. It’s another local location that I love shooting at because of the beautiful mountain backdrop and you are completely surrounded by desert. There is just something about the desert landscape and towering quirky cacti especially at sunrise that you can’t help be mesmerized by!

The Magic of a Desert Sunrise

Since it was summer in Arizona we did a sunrise session and the weather was perfect! I love sunrise sessions because the weather is much cooler and it’s also way less crowded in some of the super popular areas! We pretty much had Lost Dutchman State Park to ourselves aside from maybe one or two hikers. Sunrise sessions at this location are truly magical because the sun rises right above the mountains and it creates the most beautiful golden light! Once the sun was out, it did start to warm up pretty quickly though. So even if you’re not a morning person, it’s totally worth it for one morning for the views and privacy of your engagement photos!
